I think the 06's and newer bikes are popular because of the 6 speed (and EFI). That's why I bought mine. I'm sure the pre 06 Dynas are still very nice bikes. I have heard nothing but good things about them from my friends that have owned them.
Have a mint condition 02 Low Rider. Try to replace it for under $10k. Runs like new - looks a whole lot better IMHO - no problems whatsoever.
If you want this one now, it's $12,500. Will probably be riding it for a long time.
I don't think Traveler was saying that they really suck. He has a point that the majority of bikes on this forum are newer. My guess is that most of the people here are also newer Harley, bought a new bike, and found the forum. Most people that bought years ago are probably not aware of the site, or it has gotten old to them.
I, for one, would love to have a carburated scoot over my fuel-injected one, just for the low idle. That to me says Harley. These new bikes idle so high.
I loved my 92 FXRS, could not get a soul to buy it (even though everyone coos on how great they are). I now have an 07 FXD and it truly kicks ***. 96CI, 6 speed, FI, 160 rear... a worlds diff.!
Old school was cool (though more than a decade ago, I was not considered old school), but this new technology is something I am glad I finally embraced.
I needed cash and sold this one for $6000 last May. It was a '93 FXDL. It had nice lines with the danny gray seat and wideglide bars. It ran great but I was having some electrical gremlins.
