Jason, that was a nice '92 FXRS. I sold my '89 FXRS for $ 8000 a few years ago. I've been regreting ever since.

No way...... I love my 2005, there are a few things I would like off thenewer models the 96 motor and the dash with speedo but other then that I am and always have been glad I got a 05.

As a matter of fact I think theolder modelsare just a bit better then the newer ones..... even with the 88 I can beat most of the 96s anyways

Suck you up my injectors and spit you out my Vance and Hines....lmao

Don't get me wrong I love all Harley Davidson's.

05 was the last year for 5 speeds and 88CI so now that the 96 CI and 6 speed is standard the priceson alything older are taking a hit. My 05 Wide Glide has 10,000 miles on it and has never done anything but behave beautifully. Besides, now that I finally almosthave everything done to it thatI want to do, who cares whatsomeone else would pay for it. It' the way I want it, and it's paid for.

Ditto Blade1127. He beat me to the punch as I scrolled and read these posts. I too am a new HD and Dyna rider/owner. I am pretty stoked about this site as it has already been invaluable to me in the short time I have known about it. You get new riders, guess what you get new forum members. Yeah the motor changed but I have a hard time believing that one mysterious night the 06's came out and the Dyna morhped into a more studly rig.

Just to add my 2 cents about older vs. new here's what happened to me when I decided to pull the trigger this spring.

Was looking at used and found a real nice 04 Wide Glide at a bike show from a local HD dealer, previous owner had spent at least a couple thousand on custom parts and mods and it was low miles and in excellent condition. I signed an agreement to purchase it then when I went into the dealer the following Monday I was checking out some of the new rides on the floor. My salesman told me that if I wanted to bail on the 04 and pick something else it was my choice then proceeded to tell me he had a couple 07 Wide Glide's at close-out pricing. When he ran the "out the door" pricing on both he offered up the 07 at only a couple hundred over the 04 price.

Now that's a no brainer there, new vs. used, 96 vs. 88, six speed vs. 5 speed, etc. Hell, I'd have been a fool not to buy the 07. Sure, by the time I added a couple things to it the price went up some but it's new and it's easier to add grips, pegs, exhaust, etc. to an 07than it is to add a 96 incher and a six speedto an 04.

The close-out discount on an 07 got me.

Al.

I have an 05 Low Rider, and it definetely does not suck. In looks or performance.

Nice thing abouteven astockFXDL is that it's already chromed out and looks nice. I actually don't like some of the changes that they've made with the newer models, but those are personal preferences. I went with EFI too, so that also helps out when comparing to the newer models.

As for the talk on the forum being mostly about the new models, that's simply because the newer riders with newer bikes are the most excited and have the most questions.

As for eBay, I think most bikes go for less there. Not just the Dynas. It's difficult to pay top dollar sight unseen.

There's no FXDX/T in '06.....rather have handling over electric fuel management and a 6th speed.

Just my choice for a starting point.

'01 FXDXT Ultra-Lite Classic

Far from it!! In my opinion before 99 they were better because of the tried and true evo and especially it's user friendliness for maintenance and mods.

Well HD did drop the price on the Dynas for 2008. I'm keeping my 2004 FXDXI though.

A big twin Harley with low miles for under 10 grand is cheap.

Of all the bikes being built around here, MOST are new, that's all. Just trying to figure out why some pass on saving money buying a low mile garage queen, and building that.

Hell, the reason I bought my Superglide was because the Dealer threw it at me for a steal of a deal...it was not my first choice.

My first choice would have been a new softtail standard with a Evo motor (like 1988), but alas, those went away a LONG time ago! I wanted one back then ('87-'89 ish)when I was a Private in the Army, back when enlisted guys didn't make squat for pay.[&o]
