I know some dont like the looks of passing lights on a Dyna, and I'm not much of a fan either.
Unfortunately, I found myself in a predicament the other day that forced me to rethink my position.
I was running down a mountain road late one night, a road I hadnt traveled before, and the stock headlight didnt have enough ooomph to make me feel all that comfortable.
So I broke down this weekend and did something i told myself I wasnt going to do. I put a pair of poser lights on the FXD.
First, I want to apologize to all I might have offended by doing so, but the results far outweigh whatever you might think of me.
I CAN SEE.
It's like friggin daylight at night now.
But now I have another dilemma.....
Do I powdercoat the new lights black, or do I switch to a chrome headlight?
i feel ya on the need for light! this is what i did, tapped into my lower tree and put a set of 55watt spots on there, they are AWESOME! crazy bright! i have used car fog lights before as well, works just as good, these are great and i do alot of late night riding, they really light the road!
PIAA Powersports hasH-3 Bulbs and mini lamps for bikes. I have the same issue and ordered a single lampthat I willhang andbolt onbelow the tree.Theycome witha choice H3 55w=80/110 bulbs in starwhite/fog/blue and LED combo lamps.Your set-up would look better with a set of black PIAA fog lamps with amber light.
they are just a set of el-cheepo's off ebay... ill find the actual link for them when i get home, they where like 30 bucks, work great! my bro and girl have them on their bikes as well, i have powdercoated mine black to match the headlight... they are fantasitic! i have close ups and step by step of the install of course... it was pretty easy and worked great! here are a few more pics of before when they where still chrome
Hey man, it's your azz on that bike. If you feel you need more light go with it. I feel the same way. I haven't done much night riding but would like to. I live on the Oregon coast which has a lot of deer.
I upgraded my headlight and added two Kury mini silver bullet lights on the lower tree which are on all the time. I also added engine guard mounted fog lights that are only on with the low beam. I don't think you can have too much light at night or even during the day for that matter.
Coast, I hear ya there brother. I'm not a sunday rider. I spend a lot of time in the saddle, day or night, rain or shine. Even went out playing in the snow this winter.
I havent had to contend with any deer yet, but I did put a whistle on the highway pegs for safety sake.
Joe, I was looking at your system a while back, and really thought hard about it. I just wasnt convinced they would give me the "ditch light" effect along with forward illumination. Gotta admit, yours is powerful and stealthy all in the same breath. And it looks damn good.
If someone knows of a good potent spread beam light, I'll pull the mickey mouse ears off in a heartbeat.
KK6PG... i put my lights on for our FL trip when we do alligator alley... plus when i am riding in wisconsin there are ALOT of deer... i get a huge effect from the lights... ill try and take a pic of the spread they give... not sure how i will do that yet but i will try. they light up the ditches real well... they give me more of a SPREAD and the headlight gives me my distance lighting...
