I have a 06 fxdb and after installed the progressive suspension springs on the front I mounted the fork stabilizer. It was hard to mount and now is very stiff. It compress but in release it is very very slow...
I fill the forks with 20W heavy fork oil and begore mounting the fork stab was ok...
I just installed a SE forkbrace after lowering my front and putting in SE fork oil. I just loosely installed the brace, snugged up the screws, and went through a series of bouncing my fornt-end and tightening the screws on the brace. That seemed to allow the brace to line up nicely and allow for unrestricted travel of my fork.
You may have tightened yours to the point of binding your forks a bit causing the slow return.
