Uhhhhh, no difference between a 96 and an 88? Surely you mean a modified 88 vs. a stock 96. Even still! There's a large torque difference because of the longer stroke in a 96. It would take significantcamand/or head work to make up the torque numbers in an 88. My friend has a 06 WG tuned with aSERT and a V&H2 into 2's. It's dyno'sand tuned. It runs good. He can't touchme. Top speeds are no different between the two bikesbut I'm a mile ahead before he reaches the top end. Now grantedmy bike isn't stock, but it's not tuned either.I have a pipe andAC with PowerCommander and a generic map. I thought his bike ran much better than mine when I rode it. Just doesnt have the torque.I thought it was very verynoticable. Asfar as stock goes, the HP numbers between 88 and 96 are very close. It's the torque that gets ya. Just my experience and opinions. No offense intended. They're all great bikes.

Not always,my TC 88 with no headwork or cams other than stock makes 80HP and 92lbs torque.I realize this is the exception rather than the rule but I have seen many 96s not making this much at stage one.In all fairness many of the 96s that are making HP and torque numbers in the low 70s and 80s are running short dual exhausts like Short Shots or Big Radius.I'm not saying that a 96 with the exact same set up wouldn't make more power it's just that the difference is negligable.

No, noticeable difference while riding.
Sorry man, I wish I wasnt theone who had to tell you. [sm=joke.gif]
BTW I have also ridden Evo's that ran better than both.
I can't comment on the 07s or StreetBobs.
I love my 06 SuperGlide............ I could do without 6th gear............. Sure would miss 4th, though
Appears you are considering a used bike. I would suggest an 07 or late production 06.
Go with which ever you can get the best price on. The 6 speed is a major PLUS over the 5.
The stock 88 vs the 96 you most likely will not feel any diff. at all .
2 of my riding buddies have 04 FXDWG [ injected]. I rode both and was pleased as punch.
My new bike is a 07FXDWG 96/6. Found NO diff. in stock trim [ save a little better low end, and then even if that]
Now once you wake up the severly restricted Air/exhaust flow on the 96 , there is a noticable diff. Yet that said you will need a PC III or a SERT.
Welcome and good luck
