Default how do u like your 06/07 dynas

i am new to this forum. i am planning on buying a 2006 or 2007 dyna super glide, super glide custom or a street bob.pretty much what ever i can get for $10500 or so.this will be my first harley.i was just wondering how you like the 6 speed tranny and what about the 88 motor verses the 96 motor. also is there a lot of vibration when riding this bike? i am 6 ft 2 in tall so i will need to get forward controls for it. i currently ride a 1998 kawasaki vulcan 1500 shaft drive. i figure even if i get a 06 dyna with the 88 motor it will be snappier than mine since it is belt drive.give me any input that you may have. thanks

I love my 06 with the 88. Rode a stock 08 Low Rider last week. Didn't feel anything great power-wise from the stock 96, but my 88 has exhaust/intake mods and a custom dyno map. I'm sure there is an HP difference, I just didn't feel it on my short ride. The 6 speed is great. I love kicking into 6th at about 70mph. There is some engine vibration at idle, but it smoothes out nicely at speed.

Coming from the Kawi, you'll LOVE the Dyna. I highly recommend getting forward controls. Good luck and post pics!

Welcome to the forum!

I bought my first Harley last October. A 2006 Super Glide Custom EFI. I really like the 6 speed gear box. It is great for riding on the highway at 70+ mph. There is some vibration and I am still gettingused to it. But that's a harley.

I rented an '07 SG before I bought mine and I didn't notice much of a difference between the 88 & 96.

Good Luck!

I have an 06 TC 88 Street Bob and with Screaming Eagle AC and Thunderheader tuned with a SERT on a Dyno (custom map) it makes more HP and torque than many TC 96s.The secret I believe is getting a good 2 into 1 exhaust system a less restrictive AC and getting it tuned right.Easier said than done i'm afraid, I started out with a DFO instead of the SERT and was really unhappy with the way it ran for a long time, to the point of trying to sell the bike for awhile. I finally sucked it up and bought a good tuner and paid someone that knew what they were doing to tune it right.Other than that mess of my own creation my bike has had no reliability or quality issues of any kind.

I have to agree. My 06 is great. I have over 25000 miles on it, and every day I wake up looking forward to to morning commute to work!! It is always the highlight of my day...

I love my 06 Street Bob.

I run the Demo rides at Manchester, New Hampshire Harley, so I have road every bike the MoCo has come out with, and I did not notice a seat of the pants differance between the 88 or the 96. I do love having the 6th gear out on the highway. It does shake alot when idleing, but really smooths out when up to speed. Find one at the right price and either way you will be happy.

Like my 07' SG just fine. However, my next bike will be a Street Glide. I want to tour longer and further.

I've had my '07 bob for 1 year now. 11k miles and not a single problem. I love the 6 speed paired with the 96ci. To be fair, a well tuned '06 dyna with 5 speed/88ci will wipe the floor with the stock setup of an '07.

One suggestion on the forwards: I'm 6'0". If you go with the forwards, you might consider keeping the mid pegs. Mid pegs are great to have in the corners. And Dynas love the corners....I saved a few hundred and installed highway pegs instead of forwards. It's easy enough to both shift and brake with my heels. Took about 5 minutes to get used to. I move my feet back to the mid controls in heavy traffic or tight turns. It's nice to have the extra option during long trips, too.

Go with a dyna from either year. You won't regret it.

Cheers!
