Default Lifting 07 FXDC ??

Ok folks I know I need to get the lift adapters from HD for my 07 FXDC. I don't want to turn this into a which jack is better thread as weknow there are plenty of thoseNew to the mechanical stuff and am just looking to use the lift for fluid changes and detailing the wheels etc.. My question being as follows. If I were to purchase the Sears Yellow Jack will I have a problem clearing the jiffy stand and it's mechanisims? Or will the adapters give me enough clearance so the cross members on the jack don't hit the stand or the mechanisims.

I can tell you from firsthand experience that the, much maligned, Sears Red Jack will work just fine. I use mine all the time. It's rated for over twice the weight of any dyna. I use one with the HD frame adapter kit. I haven't changed my own fluids yet but I thought I read somewhere that a lift gets in the way and you should change the fluids without a lift.

you will make a mess of everything if you lift the bike to change fluids, and will probably block off the drain holes - much easier to just leave it on the jiffy stand.

You can lift the bike using the yellow jack with the jiffy in the up position - no clearance issues - however it is not possible to lift with the yellow jack, and the jiffy in the down position. hope that answers your question.

The yellow jack is difficult to lift the bike with because of the design. Any jack with a horizontal brace between the two lifting bars is hard to get under the dyna.

That being said, I have the yellow jack.

You can, and people do, make your own "adapters". For $20 I took the easy way out and bought the HD kit.

I don't have a link but they are listed in the P&A catalog in the maint. section I believe.

I will say that when I went to a fairly large, reputable dealer that has been in business for years, and asked for them, they had never heard of it and I had to show them in the catalog where they were. Of course, they didn't have them in stock so I had to order them.

Read what you want, believe what you want. I have the red one and it works fine. I have 2 other friends that have had the red one for at least 3 years with no problems. The yellow jack is fine as well if you want to spend the extra money. I'm really sick of this constant arguing over it though so that's the last I'll say or read about it.

Good luck

OK, I feel like an idiot. I didn't know there was a part to buy to help lift it. I have been doing the biggest balancing act to clean my wheels. For what it is worth, I have the red jack and it has been problem free.
