Well took the scoot out for a ride for the first time with no helmet and I can hear my primary rolling around in there...[]Its not screeching or anything but when you are stopped with the clutch pulled in and rev the motor you can hear the chain moving around in there. Is this normal or am I headed for "primary bearing replacement time?".
To much slack maybe just needs an adjustment! Pull the inspection cover and check your slack. Use a ruler to push up on the chain and use the bottom lip as your mark on the ruler. Should only be about 3/4 inch of slack. Primary can stretch but usally during a break in. I would check and see if you are out of adjustment!

Hope the adjuster ins't bad. It is a harley though. I can hear my primary, it's not loud but it is a chain driven drive. Chain's make noise!Took me ofrever to get used to a belt drive!
It sounds like you may be getting ready to find out that even synthetic oil doesn't prevent everything.
If I were on a Dyna of your vintage,I start wondering about the bearing as well. I also thought your bike had an auto tensioner, which I'll make a guess has the chain ratched up tighter than a banjo string. After a short ride, how hot is your primary cover? If it is pretty hot, give the auto adjuster a look and expect to find a very tight chain.
