Hey Haksaw, where are you located? I am in Kelowna, and just got a quote from Beacon ins for 493.00 that covers all my optional stuff. They cover your riding gear and even your bike trailer on the same policy. I still have to go to ICBC for basic PL/PD. I can't remember what the basic was last year, but the whole thing with ICBC was almost 1500.00 like you said.
I'm 47, been riding for 26 yrs, have formost ins and pay approx. $38.00 per month.
btw, like CraigC said, some strange stuff going on with Progressive ins. Seems like they take your money for insurance and turn around and lobby against us in court. Really strange. ABATE of Ga sent me an article about this, I'll try and post it.
i'm in winnipeg. Unfortunately there's only one insurer (gov't run) here, and the gov't won't allow others in for competition. Business must be good when you can run a business and make laws pertaining to that business at the same time.
Kelowna is beautiful. Much better riding than around these parts....you really gotta love riding to ride on straight, flat, bumpy roads and have to give up your first born to be able to do it.
ride safe.
I'm 37 , had motorcycle lisc for 2 years took MSF course and for a 05 FXD I pay $468 a year.Progressive wanted $1,100 for same coverage. I have insurance through Markel Insurance Group. www.bike-line.com . I have full coverage with a $500 deductible ,and it was they best I could living here in NY.
I have my insurance with....oh yeah that's right. I live in a communist country. Canada where I can't shop around for bike insurance.. There's only one game in town and that's run by the gov't. I was paying about 2400 for 1/2 a year of riding. I finally found a loop hole and by moving out of the city and into the country i now am paying about 1500 on the same bike.
No accidents/tickets for 10 years.
I just finished snow blowing my driveway......those who are able to ride at this time of year, count yourselves lucky.
Dude it really depends where you live I pay 740 a year for full here on Long Island but it would only be 450 for the same coverage if I had an address upstate!
