Never could get a straight quote out of Progressive....gave me quotes all over the board.
Gieco wasn't any better...word is they also dropped the policies of classic car owners...so f**k'em[:@]
Went thru State Farm myself ($370 full coverage) only catch is you also have insure your car/truck with them as well.
Popular opinion is Dairyland is the cheapest.
Quotes - 26 Clean driving record, on a street bob. All quotes are with basic full coverage. State Farm was quoted with Uninsured/Underinsured & Lower Deductibles ($500) Updated...
I have auto and boat with USAA. USAA would not offer motorcycle in MD. They have a deal with Progressive and wanted over $400 a year. My neighbor is with ERIE, so I asked him. ERIE does not have motorcycle either. They use Progressive also. He got me a quote for $370. Full coverage plus uninsured. I am 46 less that 2 years on a bike endorsement. I took Riders Edge; however they do not offer a discount. How can the same company have such a difference in quotes??????
There is a lot of variation in pricing. Based on where you live, driving record, age, credit score, etc. I would be interested to see what limits you all carry. I saw $25/$50/$25 mentioned above. Those limits scare me. They are way too low. Professionally I would not recommend limits any lower than $100/$300/$100. We are insured thru Allied Insurance. We pay $525 every 6 months for a 2000 Wideglide and a 2005 XL1200C. Full coverage with $100/$300/$100 limits and gap coverage/ UM/UIM, towing and coverage for customized parts/accessories. I KNOW no matter what we are adequately covered and it is more than worth the couple extra hundred dollar a year to know that.
I'm with State Farm for house, bike, 2 P/U's, and a car. The real kicker on ours is an "Umbrella" policy that requires high coverages. The bike is seperate from the trucks and cars. All carry 500/500/500 as a minimum to keep the 1 mil umbrella. My '03 WG by itself, with MSF discount, multi-policy discount, discounts for being with State Farm for 18 years, etc, etc, is STILL $1200 annually. Dairyland could cut that by 40%, but they only offer as high as 300/300/300 and State Farm would drop my umbrella policy.
F*ing insurance... really gets under my skin.
BTW - this is living rurally about 25 miles from Austin, Tx
That is very typical for an Umbrella policy to require higher limits on the underlying coverage. The Umbrella doesn't kick in until the underlying coverage is exhausted so they want to make sure you have high limits. You know....they don't ever want it to kick in.

Just repeating the obvious or not so obvious: In 99% of all cases you must declare and pay extra for coverage of added accessories over and above stock. Some policies give an automatic $1000 worth of coverage but as we all know that $1000 does not really cover a whole bunch.
Add it to the bike = add it to your coverage.
1 more thing................SAVE ALL OF YOUR RECEIPTS !!!!
I keep mine in a "Bike Binder" (homemade) so that they always stay together. Came in handy after my recent accident.
