+1 on the HD compact windshield. Got one in November and it really made a huge difference. Was able to ride all winter. Comes off in 2 sec with the quick release for local riding.
Not fond of the look, but it does make a diff on the highway and will keep the bugs off ya.
A windshield will make a difference. But you still get a lot of wind. It's just a different kind of wind. I still haven't gotten used to it. So my detachable windshield spends most of its life in the basement on a shelf.
I have had my bike over a 100mph with this shield,no problems. The shield does vibrate a bit at lower (lugging) rpms though. This is the smallest Sportech made, the hardware and shield are top quality, also in this picture it's in the high position(you can reverse the brackets if you want it closer to your headlight).Just google Sportech windshields if you are interested and check out the video.

What do you guys think about the handlebar windshields, meaning they attach to the handlebars and not the front forks?
It looks like the one "RAWHIDE07" is sporting in his pic above may be this type.
I absolutely love my QD Compact Low windshield. I was stubborn for 50+ years but no more. Easy on, easy off and a life saver on the road. What a difference it makes! Believe me, wind is the norm in the plains state of Nebraska.
I had the HD QR on my old bike. World of difference. Wasn't much on looks but I never took it off. I am considering getting one for my FXDF. Found my last one on E-bay for a smoking price. Good luck.
Went for a ride yesterday for a couple hours without my shield. Twenty minutes into the ride I wished I had it on. It makes a big difference. Got back home and hadda go to the store so I snapped the quick detach on andthe differencewas like night and day. Could hear my engine, eyes not tearin up,less pressure on my shoulders and back. I just can't stand the way it looks on...but I'm gittin' old...so's I guess the shield will stay on for longer trips. I had it on most of the winter but really like it off when it's warm out.
I use a touring windshield on most longer rides, and I find that it not onlyhelps with my upper body but also with my legs. My feet/knees are kinda kicked outwith my riding position and tend to catch the some wind, but with the shield, it's not noticable because of the lowers.
