For the most part thereâre all (easily) detachable.
One needs a tool and leaves a small amount of hardware on your bike.
The other (quick release) dose not and pops right off and usually cost more.
Iâve had both.
The HD detachable I had, sold it, sat way to far away from me and not
only looked strange but didnât protect me well for itâs size. http://www.putfile.com/album/102383/?page=1
The Memphis Shade Rio Grande protects my lower body and lets me
have a little wind in my face when adjusted down, the way prefer. http://www.putfile.com/album/152525/?page=2
The non quick release shields IMO give you more of what your
looking for in a windshield. http://www.putfile.com/album/182866
I'm thinking about picking up one of the cheap handlebar mount windshields off eBay. They're under $100 with the hardware. If it doesn't flap around in the wind, it's probably good enough for me for now.
Of course, now I'm wondering if the ugly "headlight brow" on my bike will get in the way, since it looks like some of these windshields fit real close around the headlight.
I have a Solo Shield from Rifle. Mounts to the handlebars, adjusts up and down, and the angle can also be adjusted. I purchased it for the trip to Myrtle Beach next month, but I haven't taken it off since I got it. Looks almost exactly like a Windvest.
I have an HD windshield and really like it. When I first had it on, it just did not feel right, but once I started longer rides I got used to it. Now it does not come off. Glad I had it on today as it also cuts some of the cold.
HD QD Compact Low.......................... Real "bug catcher" love it........... what's buffeting? It really makes those long Interstate rides a lot smoother.............. under 60, don't really need it, but who rides under 60 mph?
Doug, how tall are you? I was thinking about the compact low but I'm 6'0 tall. Don't know if it would do me any good but it sure would look better. I guess if I'm going to put one on though, it might as well be tall enough to help some.
