I used to race dirt bikes, played football, and lacrosse, so a helmet just became second nature. I live in a state requiring it, but I personally would still ride with one. Helmets are a personal choice, so I believe everyone has to decide for themselves. By the way, don't answer them next time the question comes up. Let them know what you ride or whatever you would rather tell them. [sm=chattypair.gif]
Yes...been down 3 time and each time hit my head on the street and got up and walked away. One hit was so hard it fractured the helmet & my neck. Got up and stepped into the ambulance.
Maybe an appropriate question to a cager is do you use a cell phone while driving, eat food while driving, shave while driving, apply makeup while driving, reading office paperwork while driving, aren't you concerned about taking someone out because you weren't paying attention. Or do you always wear a seat belt. Maybe if some of those cagers were paying attention a lot of states wouldn't be mandatory helmet states. LET THOSE WHO RIDE DECIDE!
YES I wear a helmet, sheeesh how stupid can ya BE to not wear a stinkin' helmet. Let those who ride decide? Whatever. I wouldn't raise a finger to fight a national helmet law though, I mean this is just common sense fer cryin' out loud, and I've heard ALL the excuses already vision, heat, can't hear, what a crock of dog dung.
Acid test, OK, there are no helmet laws of any kind on the books, and you have a kid just old enough to ride, lets say 6-8 years old, so you give the kid a ride. Helmet or no helmet on the kid??? No laws involved, it's YOUR choice. What WILL you do???? You know damn well what you'll do and you know why....common sense ultimately dictates what you do in this case, why is it any different for yourself???
