Default Configuring the Dyna for short 2up trips... Yuck!

I like bikes somewhat stripped down. I really want to configure my bike for solo riding with a solo seat, strip off the sissy bar, etc... But I have to keep the OL happy (or try anyway, we all know how that goes.)

In the next few weeks, I'll be installing a luggage rack (yuck), slightly taller sissy bar (yuck), a detachable windshield (yuck), and probably a new bigger 2up seat that's more comfortable for longer rides OR just use gel pads on the current stock seat (yuck.)

If it's not obvious already, I'm not looking forward to any of this. lol... The bad news is that since my bike is older, I can't find detachable sissy bar sideplates or a detachable luggage rack. I'm stuck with permanently mounted stuff. Heck, I'm lucky to find even the basic parts sometimes.

I draw the line at saddlebags, though. I'm getting the taller sissy bar and luggage rack to have a T-bag style bag on the back. At least this sissy bar & pad SHOULD look somewhat cool.

Sigh... The search for the perfect setup never ends.

If all goes well and we really enjoy short/long trips on the bike together (we have yet to do this), I may end up with a slightly used touring model a few years down the road. At that point, I'll turn my current ride into the solo beast it yearns to be.

I really have no idea why I'm making this post... Maybe for sympathy? Dang, I sound like a whiney sissy boy...

Chris

Thump, I don't have any answers for you but I'll certainly give you my sympathy. I'm not a big fan of my bike in 2-up config, either. But, at least I have the option to switch back and forth very easily. I've got about $1000 in detchable options just for riding her around on rare occasions. A $300 seat, a $350 windshield, $200+ worth of detachable sissy bar pieces, and $100+ luggage rack. None of that stuff touches my bike the majority of the time because I hate it. Too bad you don't at least have that option. The 1 nice thing about all of it is, I can have it all on or take it all of in a matter of minutes.

Thanks, that makes me feel better (misery loves company.)

When/If I get a newer bike, I'm getting all of that crap right up front, so I never run into this situation again!!!

It 's not that bad, WSB(whiney sissy boy).................[sm=joke.gif]
Seriously, with a passenger on the back the sissy(the bar not you) barespecially, and the bag is a lot less noticable.
Dare I say, evenlooks more 'natural' ?
And certainly a plus for hauling all the 'essentials' your OL needs.
Your scoot, in the pics, looks pretty good in it's 'stock' configuration and I don't think the additions you mentioned will take away any of it's character. IMO

Ditto on all the junk.......unfortunately, my bobber has turned bagger for that reason. I got eay brackets and bags so I could pull them off. I am looking for side plates(quick releaase) so I can attach a sissy bar. I put a vind vest on the front to keep the size of the shield down plus it only 4 screws to remove it. I usea roll bag for on the forks on behinfd the seat. I got a motherwell rack and thumb screws. I found a seat amd passenger loaf of bread after the past X whine about the lick and stick. Basically, I can strip her down for the clean look or throw on the accessories for the "Jed Clampet" look.

Good Luck

My wife went 70-80 miles with me for the first time a month or two ago and that was the first thing she bitched about. I like the smaller sissy bar myself, but since I'm going the T-bag route, I need a taller one anyway.

The quick detach windshields will work with my bike, so I'm good there. The taller sissy bar I posted above (see image) is kinda cool looking, so I'm somewhat okay there I GUESS. But the luggage rack and bigger 2up seat make me cringe.

Ohyeah, and the luggage rack requires me to go back to the straight up license plate bracket. I don't like that at all. The back of my bike is going to look like an ugly chick with braces.
