Check your plugs after you ride for a bit to see if your not running too lean or rich just to be on the safe side.
No clue where to go now. Edited a map, hooked the comp to the bike and then it tells me that the software is not the right version. And to see the dealer for an upgraded version. I was using 4.7.7 for the -01L sert module. Not sure where to go from here. tried to find other versions on the net, but only found 4.6.2. Ideas?? I've heard they have a version N cd. But that they don't sell them anymore.
Hook everything up before you fire up the laptop and get the ecm info first like mud said. 4.7.7 is the latest software.

Should the bike be on before the laptop boot process? Not sure how the sert would be getting power otherwise to tell the laptop it is there.
The bike doesn't need to be on until you are ready to download the file. When you are ready turn the bike on and leave it on with the switch in the run position for at least 10 seconds before you try to get the EMC info and upload the new file. I say plug everything before you start it up just because sometimes windows isn't good with plug and play. It is best to just hook it all up then start it up.

No luck. Tried to reboot the machine, unhook the cables one at a time, I even turned off the bike to see if I would get a different message. You think I've got a bum SERT?? I'm gonna take the screenshot I posted for Mud and see if the dealer knows what's up.
Update for those that have been helping me. (Thanks Mud and CCPD) I took the module back the dealer and talked to the gal that usually hooks me up with a small discount each time. I told her that the module was bad and that I need another. I showed her the screen shot showing that the VIN had not been picked up yet. She took me in her boss' office who we interrupted his search for new pipes to go on his bike, I killed him with 15 minutes of breakdown info on loading and reloading software, plugging and unplugging cables and reinstalling software till I saw a small glaze fade over his eyes. He told her to swap it out warranty wise. She went to the back and came out with the super sert, apparently they had no more of the old models like mine and she let me walk out with it and no extra charges. Even though I think the new sert is around 460 or so and I pain 315 for the old. Guess you can score one for the dealer on this one. Loaded the software and have a new map on my bike already. Started with #67 and mod'd from there. Will be fine tuning for the next few weeks I am sure.
