So I am looking at some rush pipes for my Street Bob and am wondering what the difference in baffle size will do for me? I see I have a choice of anything from 1.5" to 2.25".
Is it all sound related?
Also, do I need to remap or add a fuel pack with these clamp-ons or do I put them on and off I go?
I know you will get better answers than mine since I know just enough to be dangerous, but you want to stick with either the 1.75" or 2". Rush told me I didn't need a download unless I was going to be in higher elevations than where I'm at (Florida) which I will be doing so I did the Stage I download and the Screaming Eagle AC. Made quite a bit of difference in performance and I love the sound of my pipes. I got the 2" tip compatibles on my Fat Bob.
I asked a similar question awhile back and here is what I found out. Talked with dealers and forum members and others I know. I got about the same number of answers from all.1/2said no. if you go with just the slip ons you shouldbe fine ( but monitor plugs closely for leanconditions.)
The other halfsaid yes you need to open the front if you open the back. The ECM will not handle the range of air to fuel ratio needed to keep you out of a too lean state.
So here is what I did. I got the Rush 1.75 slipons added stage 1 kit ( with out the HD down load ) and bought a Vance and Hines Fuel Pack.
I did this just to be sure I did not burn a hole in one of my pistons.
Do some searching and you will find just as many opinions on this subject as you will on what oil to use.
I hope this gives you a little help.....
This is what I posted on another thread. Keep in mind I am by no means an expert. Only been riding a Harley since last Sept. The above is just info I gathered from those who supplied input.
I have also read that Rush techs have stated if you stay with 1.75 and below you should be good with out the other mods.
All I can say is put em on andcheck the plugs regularly.
I am running SE HD Air Cleaner , Fuelpak and V&H short shots no download. My question is what map from V&H are you running? I just purchased Rush 2.25 Slipons and am putting my Original pipes back on with them. When I go to the V&H Fuelpaksite and go though the setup , it goes to and extra setup involing cams and such. Each V&H setup has a map # assigned to them. I need to know which one to use.
If your going to use the rush 2.25s with stock engineand no download for your 08 fat bob--you will want to use map--(FP-0770)
Should work perfectly with this set-up.
According to the dealer you can do the 2" Rush pipes without changing the filter or doing the download. If you change more than the pipes then you need to do everything.
