I/m new to the forum. Just got an 08 low Rider. Nice bike. Last harley was a 2005 1200C.
I have a question for the group. I just had engine guards put on the 08. They are mounted at the bottom to the frame forks by C Clamps. Is that correct? Seems sloppy for HD, especially when it appears that engine guardscould be anchored to the same spot as the forward pegs.
That's correct. It ain't pretty, but it's functional. Trust me, an engine guard just as you're describingsaved my bike and my butt when I went down last weekend. You can always dress up the bottom with a tool bag or something. Like a helmet, an engine guard isn't cool, but one good scratch on it will illustrate its value.
Ditto on my 06 FXDB. Sure seems like a sloppy way to do it but thats the way it is. Think I am going to black powder coat the U bolts and use chrome acorn nuts. At least they will blend into the frame more.
