I have a 2008 Dyna Super Glide Custom six speed and I have been noticing when I go to shift up a gear I will let off the throttle and pull the clutch in and when this goes on you can hear the engine reving up before I go and give it some throttle? Could this be from pulling the clutch in all the way? Or should I just go to the friction line and shift gears?
#1 this is a serious post, in which case I'll presume you've never driven a vehicle with a clutch. When shifting it only takes a quick tug and release on the cluth lever when shifting. Don't hold it long enought to allow the clutch to slip when twist the throttle again.
I've drivin a clutch douche bag !! I just need a simple answer and if all this area does is find fault with everybody and what they postthen they should shut this site down. I've never heard the engine make a high pitch noise before when shifting from 2 to 3rd or whatever. Now smart *** if you got a simple answer say it if not keep your mouth shut!!
Mongo, if I read this correctly, and it's a repeatable problem, you might want to take it back and have the dealer find out whats going on.
It doesnt make any sense for the motor to continue to wind up after you let off the throttle and pull in the clutch. Sounds like a MAJOR safety issue to me

You'll do well on this forum, for a very short time.
You want a short answer here it is. You have an '08 bike that's doing strange things, TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALER!
Again, Welcome to the forum, Now try reading the rules in the "New Member" section.
maybe you twist the throttle a tad before you know it. You could have a slight twitch in your right hand so that you dump the throttle but then tighten your grip again to hold on inadvertantly twisting a little bit..... or you should take it back to the dealership for a look.
I have to say BigDaddyMongo is not alone... I on occasion notice that when I let go of the throttle, it doesn't wind down like my '92 FXR did. There are times when I'm thinking it's revving up as well. I just assumed this was a characteristic of the Fuel Injection.
I guess I now have to call the dealer. Unless someone here has an answer that would save me the trip.
Make sure the throttle lock is not screwed in....
Make sure the throttle snaps back closed when you release it, in all positions.
Like just normal motorcycle throttle safety stuff....
Edit: FI wom't make any difference, because there's still a throttle-body to contend with.
It's not fly-by-wire....
