Default Passenger Footboards

Hey Everyone,

It's been a while since visiting hdforums, good to be back. Last time I was here, I was having some pretty significant money problems and actually had my bike listed for sale. Forutunately the used market was soft, so nobody was interested... and my money woes were short lived, so I survived and so did my bike.. woo hoo!!

Anyway...

I've got a 2005 WG. I will spare you the details of what I have gone through to make the OL comfortable, but we just are not there yet - personally I think part of it is mental and shre doesn't really enjoy riding in general, so she keeps coming up with stuff... but I digress... I am still on a quest to make her comfortable. As much as I enjoy riding alone, I really do enjoy having her on the back too.

I am thinking the next step is footboards for her. I see HD has a set for $270.00 (MSRP), and I figure those would work nice... fit, etc. But I am cheap and like to get good deals on nice stuff. I've looked at Kuryakyn's offerings but I can't really make sense of the various options, the parts, what I would need and not need, etc.

Anyone have non HD footboards? (for passenger) How are they? Who made them? doe they "fit" well - as in, do they look ok, fold up nicely, etc. If you have Kury, what friggen parts do I need?

my rider and passenger footpegs are currently entirely Kury setups, I'm not sure if that makes difference or not.

Thanks in advance

I had the HD ones on my 04 FXD and the lil lady loved them.

I know I have seen them on ebay (listed by HD dealers) for waaaay less then msrp. I would keep an eye out for them.

Thrill, welcome back and congrats on getting to keep your bike.

As far as the Kuryakyn ISO passenger boards go, looks like you'll need an adapter kit first. The part number is 8881 and it costs $19.99. It fits the regular footpeg mounts where normal passenger pegs would normally mount and then has a splined end on it that the boards would fit to. For the boards, you have 2 options. It looks like the only difference between the two is that one of them (part number 7916) keeps the board at about the same level as pegs would be. The other (part number 4455) fits the boards up about a peg width above the peg mount. If you have or have access to an 08 Kury catalog, this is displayed on page 64. If not, you may find it by searching those part numbers on their website. One of the things Kury does well, in my opinion, is footpegs and boards so you should be happy with them. By the way, the cost on the boards, either part number, is $199.99 but I bet you can find them cheaper online on ebay or at eastern performance.

Good luck...

Never sell your ride, never sell your ride, never sell your ride.
Any way I had two better half's say they didn't want to ride. reason.... late B/H said she didn't like the other biker chicks(?????)
presentB/H said she was not interested in riding on a HARLEY.
(old BF had a Harley and it broke down, she had to walk home to get the pick up truck)( twice) he stayed with the bike so no one would steal it.)This was in the 80's and the bike was a 60 something AMF something.

Any way I tookthe two up seat off and went solo on both bikes. Saved a lot of Money.

I had the same problem with the ol'lady getting 'comfy' back there. I couldn't find any aftermarket passanger boards that I liked. So I bit the bullet and went with HD. She loves them - and Idon't hatethe look when they aren't in use. Good luck in the quest...
