Went to the dealer last week to look at highway peg options. The dealer could only show me a setup that required mounting brackets and pretty much any peg I wanted to hook to them. But the brackets didn't look like the other ones I've seen - the solid chrome plate with the peg out front. These were small brackets and looked cheap.
Any of you have recommendations on those bigger one-piece types that just slide right in the frame holes on an 06 Dyna?
I have the H.D. highway peg mounting kit part # 49019-95 sells for about $150.00
Drag Specialties has a copy, part # DS-243524 sells for $53.95.
Wish I would have known this before I bought H.D. They are identical.
Recommend just getting the mounting plates and then look at Kuryakyn for their adjustable peg mounts. They make an offset mount, looks like a small chrome "L" bracket that bolts to the hole in the frame mounting plate and then will accept any male-ended peg. Great for some of us "shorter legged" riders or for thos a little taller. The mount can be rotated 360 degrees to bring it closer or move it farther away, depending on your needs. And yes, the DS mounting plates are about the same as the HD, just a whole lot cheaper.
Good info found in here! I have been thinking about highway bar and pegs lately, so a couple people in here have saved me some money!
Just FYI JP Cycles has Part # 5300014 which states is a direct OEM replacement for HD # 49019-95. Cost is $ 59.99.
i bought my highway pegs from j&p, they are the same as harley sells for less than half the price. they are the better brackets with 2 bolt holes and they are chrome. they shipped them to me in about a week. it looks to me like the adjustable brackets could move out of place because they only use one bolt. i may be wrong about that but thats how i see it. i like the pegs from j&p cycles..
I have H-D crash bars with brackets on the lower end for highway pegs on my 05 Super Glide. I bought some pegs and 1 1/2" extensions from Kuryakyn. Looks good and are just right for me.
I had the h-d adjustable brackets but the chrome started coming off so I made a set of stainless half inch thick brackets I used the h-d units as a pattern
