Okay so dont start this as a loud pipes VS quiet. I just want to know if I take out my baffles on my short shots will it damage my engine? If it will does anyone know of a smaller baffle so I can have more sound. I just like LOUD.
Too bad you didn't post earlier today...... I just returned a set of torque cones for a dyna...... Apparently if you want to run open pipes (no baffles) you can but you need some backpressure on the cylinders so they make "torque cones" that neck down (just a little) the pipes at the head to give them the right amout of backpressure. I left the stealer last week to find an indie that had a set of these after the dealer told me I needed them bc I was running Cycle Shack slip ons...... Dealer didn't have them but told me I better get some..... So I drive across town find a set and pay $80 bucks for the things, now I'm pissed cause I saved $$$ on a good deal for the CS then had to drop the bones on the cones....... I start doing a little research on the internet after I get home then call up cycle shack. The CS rep was very helpful and explained that while I looked like the CS didn't have baffels they actually did and were specifically designed to create the perfect amount of backpressure. He actually told me that the torque cones would cause performance problems if I put them in...... So, now I'm really fuming cause the stealer sent me all the way across town to waste money on something I didn't need........ So, fast forward to yesterday, I drove back to the indie to return and he was closed on Mondays...... [:@][:@]Go back today to return them, no problem right....... Wrong..... 35% restocking fee on all returned parts [:@][:@]What a shi$#y way to run a business, I'm furious but it's not the cute girl behind the counters fault, so I tell the parts manager they just lost my parts business....... Why buy local if they are going to screw you on a return....... He seemed genuinely concerned and apologized, apparently it was a store policy and nothing he could do...... He did offer to make up for it if I decided to give them a second chance, said he would try to cut me a deal on my next purchase......
You know, it would seem like with the economy tanking and bike sales dropping that dealers/indies would be going out of their way to maintain customers..... I don't understand how a store owner can justify 35% restocking fees. I can understand if a part has been installed but this was new still in the pack. You would think they would decide on a case by case basis.
Hate to hear that story about the dealer and the indie, but seems to be common place. It seems now you are getting better service from ordering from shops over the internet.
I would much rather do business locally, but sometimes you just cannot justify the cost differences. I just got slip-ons and there was a 100.00 difference from thedealer to the onlineshop.
