There is also a long version.
The intake and Exhaust valve are adjusted the same way in the same manner.
Threads per inch (TPI) of the push rod X (times) .100.
For example, if the push rod has 32 TPI, multiply 32 X .100 = 3.2,
this means the push rod will be adjusted 3.2 turns.
Remove the spark plugs and turn the motor over
until the valve you are adjusting is at its lowest point.
1. Unscrew the adjuster till the push rod is at ZERO lash
(no up and down play on the push rod).
2. Mark the push rod with white out or a marker
and adjust it out 3.2 turns and tighten the jam nut.
3. Remember to check the push rod by turning it with your fingers.
If you cannot turn the push rod after it has been adjusted
the lifter will need time to bleed off the oil.
This may take 5 to 20 minutes for the oil in the lifter to bleed out.
Once the push rod is easy to turn by hand it is safe to turn the motor over,
do not turn the motor over until you can spin the push rod.
4. Warning
If you cannot spin the push rod, the valve is still open and turning
the motor over at this point can easily bend a valve or two.
Repeat these steps for the remaining push rods.
Threads Per Inch
24= 2.4 turns
28= 2.8 turns
32= 3.2 turns
36= 3.6 turns
40= 4.0 turns
52= 5.2 turns
