I didn't realize harley davidson made the factory dyna shocks at half inches or so.... I thought they were all in even inch increments.
Anyone else with some input.... just makin' sure i get this right. Like i said i WAS looking for 11" but if 12.6" is stock i not gonna go that low at all. I was thinking an inch drop would be nice but i need to know my stock first before i can decide.
12" is probably correct for your bike. My 07 FXDC was 12.6". I think the FXD, FXDB, and FXDF are all 12" even stock but I'm not sure. To find out, measure your shocks from eye to eye or bolt to bolt as the case may be. I'm not sure how much having the shock compressed or decompressed on a lift will affect your measurements though.
The 12" was the stock size for the FXDL. I put the 12" 412's on my LowRider and the height did not change at all.

How much did this actually lower your ride? I would love to lower between 1/2" and 1". I knw they say they handle better, but are they more comfy? Seems like every thread I have seen talks about how they handle so much better, but no one ever mentions if they make the ride feel better....my wife hates riding on my scoot because it jars her so much. I also would enjoy a more comfy ride.

Just put the 12.5" 412 HD on my 02 FXD, same chassis, and the seat height was actually raised a tad. I weigh about 225 and with the shocks on the "soft" setting it's still quite firm, the statement about riding a hardtail, it's not that bad but still firm. With thewife on board around town I've left them on the first setting, seem okay buton longer rides I go to the second setting. I guess it just depends on your weight and what kind of ride you are looking for.
