HAVE A 04 AND LOVING IT.HANDLES LIKE NO OTHER HARLEY.LIKE CARB MODEL AS TUNING AND UPGRADES ARE EASY AND INEXPENSIVE.SAW A FEW GOOD DEALS ON EBAY.GOOD LUCK,RIDE SAFE NO MATER WHAT YOU GET
Bystanders say the front wheel on mine floats about 6" off the ground thru the first three; I can feel it and get foreward (I've got mid-controls, of course...) to keep it down. Con$equence of error while learning to wheelie i$ too much for me...and I'm gettin' old; I'll settle for fast and quick.
They cost to dam much to just buy a harley and I am too tall for a sportster or I would buy a 883R this year. I do have a nice bike I just want a crusier next and the more I look every thing is so ganeric compared to a harley.
Look around for a FX EVO from the 90's. They are good bikes and can be had for $7K or so.
Ya I have thought about that as well but everything I own is from the 90's I would like something I could consider newer 2000+. Any thing in the 90 are getting out dated fast in style and in machnics. Plus ever 90s harley seems to have 5 grand in crome I hate crome. But if I saw the rightFXR I would proble jump on it.

You should be able to find a twin cam for $9K-$10K. Harleys never go out of style no matter how old. In fact,HD is reverse from the metric world. The OLDER it looks and isthe more in style it is!! Old metrics...well they are just plain old.
In diffence of the metricas a little I have a 1990 Katana and most people even bike people think is a 2000 or newer. But on the Harley there is just somethingabout the fxr they just shut 1980's ofcourse you can change anything and make it what ever you want it to look like I just want to start with some what newer tec.
I drive a jeep so I under stand the style thing Look at them I think the have had less changes then harely in the last 70 years.
..... you just gotta look hard and move fast when "it" is found. .....
This is great advice. I just narrowed my choice down to a Dyna model a yesterday. A guy was selling a brand new 07 FXD he won in a raffle for $11,000, only 9 miles on it, spoke rims, pearl pewter with 2 year new warranty. I found it 3 days ago when I wasnt sure what I wanted and what the values were. When I called him back to buy it yeasterday, it was sold.

I'd say you definitely snoozed on that one (and losed[&:]). And I hate to make it worse on you, but that wasn't an FXD, it was an FXDC (that color and wheel option is not available on an FXD). So you snoozedmaybe worse than you thought...but somebody got a great deal.[sm=bangbang.gif]
