Is anybody besides me getting tired of the rules imposed on riders on a military installation.
Gotta wear boots
Gotta wear Bright colors
Gotta have full finger gloves
Gotta have eye protection
Gotta have embeded reflective at night
Not that these aren't a good idea but it is starting to **** me off. Next we will have to have a flashing stobe light on our head or a neon sign to ride. the worst part is they can do a line of duty on you if something happens even off base. AAARRGG.
Most motorcycle fatalities are car vs motorcycle. Most of those are the cars fault. Lets have a motorcycle awareness class and make all car driver attend.
The PD that I work for started using a building on a local air base for training. I rode on once and was turned around even though the building I was going to was about 200 yrds from the entrance. I parked it at the gate and walked in, the guard at the gate knew I was a cop (not that it matters on base) but rules is rules. He did hook me up though and let me put it next to the shack so it was secure. He asked me if I was planning on doing a lot of riding on the base and if so I would need to take some sort of "course"? That was the end of that. Its their house I need torespect that.
Many of today's regs are developed from lessons of the past. Believe it or not but many of the senior enlisted you report to went thru the same "growing " pains of regs. Too many young service men and women come back after long deployments and tend to loosethe driving skills they had before they deployed. Three of the five requirements,I ride with everyday. As a young enlisted I was pissed about some of the chicken s**t regs also. After moving up in the ranks and losing people due to bike accidents it dawned on me the military has odd ways of looking out for their assests. Hang in there and thanks for your service.
