I decided on the DC too, black and chrome, my two favorite colors. For me it was all the extra chrome, spoke wheels, rear fender, and all that. I have a Lepera Bare Bones Solo Seat coming in which I think will set the whole bike off. When the wife wants to ride, I'll put the foot pegs and original seat back on.
Well I went with the fxdc, have swapped out the saddle for a mustang vintage and have the pillion off for now and a rear rack on for commutes. I love the bike, the silver and chrome. but it all comes down to what you like. The versitility of quick changes and you can have a stripped down solo or with quick release and pillion, be set up for touring.
stare at em for a good long time at the dealer.... then sit on em both and let the one that calls to you be the deciding factor.... the FXDC is by far the most value packed bike in all of H-D's lineup....the street bob is only a few bucks more but gives you a different feel sitting behind those apes....
you are really the only one who can decide.
Take your pick. They are both great. For me I like what someone said on a post once referring to an fxdb as "a great starter kit". Thats real. I will tell you the SB is pretty easy to clean and the denim paint(if you prefer) really does not show dirt or prints near as much as a shiny coat. Flip a coin?
I struggled with the same decision and ultimately decided on the FXDC. But after demo riding them both, the chrome, the engine, and thenimble nature of the DCis what pulled me in.
I went with the FXDC because the of the Chrome, laced wheels, chromed console, chrome tank emblems, it's 2 up ready, andGloss paint. I have 2 solo seats for my FXDC now and I couldnt be happier. Takes me about 1 minute to swap out the seat btw...
