Riding two up yesterday following some old duffer down a steep, poorly surfaced, hill when she decided to slam the brakes on for no reason, braked but lost the front and down we went in the blink of an eye [:@]both ok apart from some bruised ribs where I came down on the bars.
Damage report is bent bars, gear lever and gouged derby, however the worst part is I now have a 4" round dent on my tank[:@][:@]
Don't want to take the bike off the road over the summer (such as it is here!) so was wondering if anybody has any suggestions as to what I could stick over the dent so it doesn't look too bad until I sort it out next winter. Are any of the moco tank badges big enough to cover a dent this size? not really into skulls and crosses.
I'm glad you're okay for the most part. Coulda been worse ya know. In the meantime, I have seen guys put BandAids on their dings which was pretty funny the first time I saw it. The Barbie ones are even funnier. Good for you for sucking it up and continuing in the wind!
that really sucks,, mind you yesterday, today and tomorrow are no good pissing it down anyway for us in the south so if i were you i would go to halfords and P38 the dent. If you buy the halfords own brand matt black its a pretty perfect match but also use the "plasticote" primer that happily halfords also sell... its a quick fix and keeps you on the road, gives you plenty of time to sort out a second tank from ebay... by the way, nice looking bike
Thats a bummer, good thing your both ok.
Sk8rod,s idea sounds good i,ve seen sets of tins on ebay for reasonable money, which you could sell on again after yours are sorted.
I suppose its down to how you want your bike to look through the "summer" and how much to spend.
Would you think about a custom paint job?
Depending on exact location and how bad it is, and if there is any paint damage, maybe a paintless dent repair guy could fix it and there won't be anything to sort out later.
Or maybe ask a painter in the area if they can do a quick turnaround for you, might have it done in a few days.
Glad you're OK. It pissed down all day in Witshire yesterday and it's even worse today. A group of us were going out on a run to over to Weston-Super-Mare but it's too miserable. I can't believe it's the longest day in less than a month, I've done hardly bugger all this year and before I know it the nights will be drawng in.
You could try a small cuddly toy or a plastic spider or furry rat or something and stick it on with double sided tape like it's climbing up the tank.
What about a beer pump clip. You see loads for sale on eBay.
