Default Applying tank badges

So, I've done some searches and can't find any help. For anybody that has put new tank badges on their bike got any good ideas for how to make sure it looks good and is the same on both sides. I'm kind OCD bout stuff like this so I've gotta know it's gonna be symmetric before I apply the badges. Thanks for any help.

I'm the same way, HimeHog, and I was the same way about my tank badges.... I got creative and simply used a number of different reference points so that each side would be a virtual mirror opposite

i used a cloth measuring tape, white thread, and masking tape (used small pieces to hold the white thread on)... created a square where i wanted the badges to be and that was it.... as far as reference points to draw from, i used the gas cap, the console, and the lower trees... i also jacked the bike up to make sure things were on an even keel when i did it

i measured and double measured and got a geometrical picture of where i wanted them to be...then...bit the bullet and slapped them on

go for it, man

There was a thread a couple of months ago about appling new badges. One member ran string from his back tank mount to the front tank mount. He also ran string down from the console or gas cap and fuel gauge. The overall idea is to make sure they are both in the same place on opposite sides. I would tape the string to the tank to make sure it was even and then mark the tank with a pencil either leaded or grease type. Can'tremember who posted the thread though. Good luck and post pics.

Eye ball it -- can't see both sides at once and you'll be close enough. Assuming you're using 3M type double-sided tape on the emblem, before pulling off the backing, use a couple of small pieces of some Scotch double sided tape for each emblem to get the position you want -- removes easily to fix and reposition as needed. Then mark the new position and remove backing on emblem tape and apply the emblem. Worked for me, but then I don't get too obsessive about this kind of stuff.
