Default 07 Dyna with 8400 miles

Noob question - thanks for your patience

Is 8400 miles a lot for an 07 FXD? I realize it may depend somewhat on the driving habits and conditions. But on average and knowing that all maintenece was done accordingly, is a bike with this mileage something you would consider? I would prefer to buy a lower mileage bike. But, Im in California and considering buying dyna from out of state to save some $$. In order for me to register a non-California emmisions complient bike, it must have at least 7500 miles on it.

If the bike was properly maintained, mileage is not a problem. Request to see the maintenance records, and perhaps chat with the wrench who did the work. Modern engines can handle lots of mileage, I put 15,000 on my 03 the first year!!!! and it still as strong as ever. THe bike your are talking about is barely broken in.

Cheers,
Pep

My husband just had his 10,000 mile service done on his '08 dyna wide glide. He took delivery of it new on December 31, '07! (4 months)

Bought my bike 12 years old with 25,000 miles on it, and thought "poor bike" it didn't get out of the garage much!

Mine is an 06 and it has 33,000 miles on it and runs and looks great. If I were looking for a preowned bike, 8,400 miles would not deter me. At that mileage, it has only had two oil changes. I would look at the tires and basic overall appearance of the bike. If the tires are original and the rear one still has a little tread IMO it was not rode hard. Most only get 10-12,000 miles out of their rear tire and 15-20,000 out of the front. If the engine and wheels are stained, chances are the bike was not abused, only ignored. Do not go look at it predetermined one way or another and do not be afraid to leave it alone if your gut tells you to. Good luck.

Great suggestions. The owner just replaced the rear tire. He says the front is half warn.

The seller works at HD and prefers to do the oil changes himself. So, their are no maintenece records. As this is an out of state bike, I cant see anything other than pics, but he sounds very nice, honest and my gut feeling is a good one regarding the care of the bike.

My '07 was bought new in July of '07 and I have a little over 12K on it. I would rather see 8400 on a '07 than on a bike 10 years old, sitting in a garage isn't good on a bike.

8400 miles heck it's just a baby! I'll assume working at HD he knew well enough to keep records of oil changes and maintenance checks. an 07 is still under warrenty. If he kept no records he is either stupid or just plain bullshitting you!
