Get the 03 and put a Springer front end on it for a retro look.
If you put a springer front end on a T-sport I will hunt you down....[sm=shootshoot.gif]
Seems to mean '03 FXDXT should be a bit less money than the '07 FXD. Still, if you're into performance, get the FXDXT. OTOH, if it's just the bags and blacked out stuff that you like about it, get the newer bike.
Depends what YOU want from the bike. I looked for months to find an FXDXT rather than buy new, 'cause I wanted a platform to build what I have now. BTW; you are pretty much stuck with the fairing on the T-Sport...here's 2 pics of the same bike:
Go with the '07... no personal experience, but I've heard that the bags on the T-Sport aren't that great anyway... probably better off with aftermarket ones.
Plus, for me, the newer transmission is way better than before.
Sorry, but IMO the T-Sport bags beat anything in hard bags or leather; they're QD, expandable and have outer pockets for small stuff. When we get where we're going (we motel it on the road) we just click the bags off and take 'em in. They hold more than FLH bags...
I put 'gaiters on my forks to help keep the seals alive and, yeah, they do look a bit skinny compared to the current 49mm tubes, but I sure enjoy and use the adjustments.
I considered a 6-speed upgrade but avoid all superslabs so figured I don't need it. As far a motors; I pumped mine up to 103 anyhow, so the 96'er is moot...
But; the '07 comes with some warranty; that can be appealing. And it's "current"...
I can understand your quandry.....
'01 FXDXT
103 by HQ
some aluminum and some composite
goes good, handles OK
Should still have some warranty! ++++
6 speed tranny is great
I prefer fuel injection over carb after owning both.
With $$$ you can fix anythng you do not like.
I like fairings too and added a Slipstreamer SS-32 shield which is almost like a fairing
Do you have some pics of your bike withthe shield on it?
