Your wheel is bad NOW. You're not supposed to be able to back those bolts out by hand and you should have a very hard time doing it without power socket tools. Had a friend this happened to as well...they forgot to use locktite. Then they tellyou YOUR wheel is bad. Good you have the extended warranty.
Not sure if I undrstand you correctly....sounds like you are trashing the dealer...I got to say that the dealer I use is probably one of the best there is. These guys bend over backwards for me everytime I walk in the door. I have never had the slightest bit of a problem with them. Yes the wheel is bad NOW, they never claimed it was bad prior to instalation. Have they outright said "we broke your bike sir, we did it, it's our fault." NO, should they? NOPE. From what I have seen and heard on here this is a very common problem and it appears that HD is redoing the wheels...sounds like a problem from the MOCO. I know there was nothing wrong with it before this happened and they do as well. While I am upset, I'm not gonna sit here and trash an honest respectable dealer for this. I simply wanted to vent my frustrations and get the word out there may be a serious issue with the bolts
I posted about 2-3 weeks ago about this subject. Mine is still in the shop and wont be ready till thursday June 6th! They are changing the swingarm, upper belt guard, belt, wheel, sprocket, tire and engine case. They told me that the reason the bolts backed out was because the selling stealer put on bolts from a softail(about a 1/4 inch longer cap) w/o locktite. I am glad you kept it rubber side down and didnt get hurt. This all happened 1 week after having my 5K checkup! HD doesnt consider the wheel/sprocket bolts "critical fasteners"! Not critical? They only hold on the wheel.........
Have you heard anything yet on your bike? I am heading up to the dealer in a bit to check in on mine(I have to go there anyways). Was just wondering if you had heard anything
The wheel was on back order and they didnt start working on my bike because they didnt want to 'Tie up a lift". I was p/oed after it being thereover 2 weeks but now it makes sence. The wheel came in last week and it "will be done this week". I now told them not to rush and miss anything and torque every bolt they see. They agreed and they said my faith in my bike will be attained once again. I hope everyone on this board has learned how common it is to have bolts loosen up andto check the bikes at least once a week....
Seems to me part of the problem is the addition of the chrome cover itself, adding 1 more item between bolt and pulley to deform and cause the bolts to gain clearance. Ditch the covers entirely use a chrome pulley!
man everything that is going wrong with my 07 sg is common **** i see. can someone pm a list of what to look for so i can avoid these mini-strokes i feels i'm having.lol
first my fairing supports, then my junk *** harmon kardon stereo,no i go a bolt stuck in my red powder coated 9 spoke wagon wheel!
i'm getting sick of this man. if i wasn't so addicted to "hd" i'd go to rehab. oh well it's just money right better make it now while it's there to be made.
