I am 5'11" and ride an 07 FXD. With forward controls, it fits me perfectly. Some taller handlebars would probably be in order for you. My buddy rides a 97 Super Glide with forward controls and apes and it fits him just fine.
Youre dead on. The street bob with the taller bars felt more comfortable than the FXD and FXDC. The FXDC felt like the seat pushed me too far forward - the FXD bars felt too narrow and I didnt like the way they wrapped towards me, put my hands at an uncomfortable angle. The other bike that felt comfortable was the Fat Bob - but too much money for me and hard to find used right now.
6'3" on an '01 super glide with mids, im somewhat comfortable on longer rides, but i like to stretch out and sit on the passenger pad for a few miles sometimes to stretch out my back and crack my knees. people sometimes give me weird looks and i think i look big on the bike in pictures, but i love the bike
Alright - Im kinda curiouis, what does a 6"3' guy look like on a super glide? Forgot to mention, at one dealership the guy wipped out a camera and took pics of me sitting on a FXDL. Never got to see them though - he didnt know how to work his camera...
6'1" on a Dyna FXD, with forwards. Seat could be an inch further back, but the tallboys only fit newer Dynas. Still,it fits me much better than some much bigger bikes.

Love my fxdc fits like a glove .
My buddys all say i look perfect for it when we ride.
All i did way highways it is just fine , that way i have two position for my feet.
Thanks for the pics - can clearly tell how forward controls could be a benifit for us taller guys. Nice bike - isnt that the SE special Edition? So a Mustang seat moves you back compared to the stock FXDC seat? Good to know that...
The Mustang saddle adds a bit to the height, a heck of a lot to the comfort, and maybe an inch back. I keep the pillion on the shelf for 2 ups, and swap it for the fender rack when the needed. I have a 34" inseam and the forwards feel perfect. Yes it is the 105th..
6' 4", here. I even kept the mid's... Feels just fine to me.
As for what I look like on the bike, I really could not care less... Somebody told me that advertising agencies hire short guys to ride the bikes, so the bikes will look bigger in pictures.
(this is before the fork boots and chin spoiler...)
Sounds to me like you are getting a line of BS from someone trying to make a few more bucks or just has something against dynas (they do exist). As you see, plenty of tall people ride dynas. Sure, you may want to make a mod or two for comfort but the odds are you will do that for any bike you buy. I'm 6'4" and have added forward controls. I also changed the bars but that was more for arm/wrist comfort than it had anything to do with height. I feel like more of a giant on a moped when sitting on a Fatboy or Roadking than I do on my dyna. I've also ridden a couple of Heritage Softails and felt like I was sitting on a bar stool with a motor. If you are a big guy, you are going to feel big on most anything and the differences in the bikes, anyway, is most often a few inches or even a fraction of an inch - so how much difference could it really make?
Buy what you like and want. Sit on the different models and see how they feel to you. Ride them if you can, then buy.
