So I have been looking at used Dynas and found a couple bikes I like. I went to a couple local dealerships to compare the bikes and they are telling me that because I am 6"1"/6"2' that I should either get a WG or softail. Their saying the Dynas will look too small with me on them. To quote one guy, "he doesnt want me too look like an ape with a football" - wtf kind of remark is that? lol So, Im curious, what do you guys think? Are other tall folks riding Dynas - FXD, FXDC, FXDB? I realize that forward controls would be an advantage - would this and the taller bars on a Street Bob be a better choice than the FXD or FXDC? As Im new to this I cant test ride bikes so all I can do is sit on them...
Thanks for the feedback - the dealership confused me a bit... I need to get straightened out...
Plenty of tall guys ride Dynas. They're just trying to get another $4-6K out of ya. Just get some extended reach forward controls, and you'll fit good. I'm 6', and somtimes I feel small on my Street Bob.
I'm 6'1". I ride a FXD with mid controls with a Tall Boy seat. If you look at the specs they really aren't that much different in size although rake etc are different. The stock FXD seat did feel cramped, however. Doing simple things like changing the seat and angle of the handlebars will make the bike feel much more roomy.
One more thing...my dealer told me that we should consider a Fat Boy for my (5' 2") wife instead of a Sportster 1200L. His "reasoning" is they are low and have a lower center of gravity.
I'm 6'5" and have my SUper Glide Jacked up a bit with forward controls and its very comfy. I feel like I'm on a tricycle when I get on my Wifes Softail.
Dyna is much better for the taller person in my opinion.
6'5" here. 08 Super Glide with forwards. I'm quite comfy on it, and It fits me quite well. No problem with the wife on the back, either. I wanted a Sportster, but it was a tight fit for me, and way too tight for two-up. The Dyna is a perfect bike for the taller rider.
6'3" on an '01 super glide with mids, im somewhat comfortable on longer rides, but i like to stretch out and sit on the passenger pad for a few miles sometimes to stretch out my back and crack my knees. people sometimes give me weird looks and i think i look big on the bike in pictures, but i love the bike
I am 5'11" and ride an 07 FXD. With forward controls, it fits me perfectly. Some taller handlebars would probably be in order for you. My buddy rides a 97 Super Glide with forward controls and apes and it fits him just fine.
6'3" kept the mids because I feel more in control with them, I feel a little close to the tank, raised bars 3" with risers, that helped. I'm thinking of going to the neighborhood upholstery guy to have him fab seat to move me back and lower 2".
