Default Stage 1 vs gas mileage

Hep,
I was wondering what is the impact on your mileage and gas consumption when doing stage 1? U do more mileage/gallons or less?

Nearly the same on my '06 Street Bob too. Slightly better highway (53 vs 50), slightly lower city (42 vs 44).

I was disapointed in my milage on my Fat Bob, but after looking at my Owner's Manual I realize I am probably not changing gears soon enougha and cruising at higher RPM than I need to. Still getting used to the 96 CI TC motor and the six speed trans.

Actually, according to the manual we should be using 6th gear when passing 85 km/h (around 53 miles/hour). I think that's a mistake in the european manual (maybe they just replaced mph by km/h), mainly because having the 6th gear in below 90km/h makes me feel i'm riding a pogo rather than a harley. Could you post the table from the american manuals?

thanks!

On my 08 FXDC, I lost between 4-5 mpg after completing my stage 1 from stock. But pulls much harder and seems to cruise so much easier when going 65-75 mph..

Looked at the chart this am and all I can remember is second gear at 15 mph and 6th at 55mph. These seem kinda low. I used to like the way the EVO motor sounded chugging along at really low RPMs but then I read about a condition called brunnelling. Now I am more concious of maintaining rpms and try to keep it between 2.7k and 3k on the tach. But maybe this should be different with the TC motor?
