ORIGINAL: SkyRider<\\;BR>\\;<\\;BR>\\;guys keep in mind that you’ll want to compare apples to apples...new pistons and boring the jugs on an 88 and shazam!...95 cubes...really close to 96 cubes...bet there would be not much difference between the two bikes at that point.<\\;BR>\\;
<\\;/P>\\;
<\\;P>\\;Yea but that means you would have to spend money to get it up to a 95. And in that case after spending the extra money you could just get the 07. Also if you spend that same money you would have spent getting the 88 to a 95 on the 96 and you have a 103 or maybe better.<\\;/P>\\;
i bought my 07 used with 2400 miles, paid 13500 for it...never rode an 88, only had a sporty before that, but like i said 13500, already had a sissy bar and 2up seat...then they lowered it for another 1k
No one usually uses NADA for bikes, instead they use KBB. \\; I guess it all depends on what you find. \\; I just saw an '07 go for $15K at my dealer. \\; Blew my mind. \\;
$10,900, in your market, sounds like a hell of a deal. \\; Like I said earlier, you'll probably never notice the difference in the 2 motors.
Yeah - just to give you an idea \\; of this market - a new 08 bob is \\; $15,500 + taxes and dmv = almost $18,000. \\; And of course, then add forward controls, stage 1, 2 up seat...
My buddy bought a low mileage 06 Bob for 11.7K off Ebay 1 year ago, it had lots of upgrades as well. \\; The market? \\; He lives in San Jose and the bike was in Carmel. \\; I don't think 10,600 is a good deal. \\; And if the new bob price you're quoting happens to be from San Jose Harley, do yourself a favor and drive to Santa Cruz (where I bought my 99 DWG) or Redwood City. \\; SJ Harley has a markup on everything and they act like they're doing you a favor to even talk to you.
Im not so sure that this 06 isnt a good deal. If your buddy bought one for $11.7k off eBay did that include shipping? Also, unless it was a Cal bike, which it probably wasnt since it was on eBay, it would of had to have at least 7,500 mies on it for him to register it here in Cal. \\; Im not saying his bike was a bad deal - just saying that the asking price of this bike seems pretty good given its an 06, its local, has upgrades and very low mileage.
The dealerships Im refering to are in the Sac area. None do MSRP, all have handling surcharges plus more stuff charges for other stuff... Just by calling Reno hd I shaved off over a $1000 bucks compared to the local shops. And their bikes all have Cal emmissions and its only a 90 minute drive through the beautiful Sierras. If I were buying new, what a great first ride that would be - cruising through tahoe and saving money doing it - nice
As stated in my post the bike was in Carmel. \\; Shipping not included (or required). \\; I live in SoCal now and I saw a brand new 07 Bob in a dealer for 12K + ttl. \\; Shop around a little more.
Umm... Ok, I'll bite, so which dealer was this in SoCal that has a new 07 bob for $12k? \\; Again, dealers name and number please?
It was a Pacific Blue Denim 2007 Street Bob. \\; A couple of Sundays ago. \\; There was a Black Cherry one right next to it that said "Big Savings" but had no number specified.
There's a link from their website where you can request a quote, but I think you'd be better off calling (just my gut feeling). \\; Good luck.
Called - thanks for the lead - they dont have any 07 Bobs left. The sales guy doesnt remember anything new for 12k though - but - if you saw it and put out the delaer info, I call it good nough Also, they do charge $900 for dealer prep and shipping for all new bikes.
Ok, back to my reality.... lol Waiting on sellers reply of $10,100 offer. At this point, no news is probably not so good news
That's too bad. That particular dealer had two shops - one in Oceanside and one in San Marcos. Then the Oceanside store closed for "remodeling," and now the building is for sale. Apparently they had serious cash flow problems. Their situation must have improved a bit, maybe because summer is here. Worst time to buy a bike, best time to sell one.
Don't let the displacement be an issue. The EPA keeps messing around with bikes the newer and newer they get... i mean O2 sensors on a bike. PLEEEEEASE!!!! What's next?? Get the '06... its as good or even better than the '07.
I researched the cam chain thing and it seems it was fixed in 06 dynas? Also, I thought the 6 speed trans is the same in 06 and 07? A warranty is always a good thing...
\\;
The '07s have different gear ratios to accommodate the different torque curve of the larger engine.
Only thing I would add to this is check the build date. The '06 1/2 models don't have these issues. The injector and bearing updates became standard on the mid year '06s and later.

I've riddin both and own an '07. The 96" is much better, in my opinion. Also, the '06 had some expensive repair issues. Is it still on warranty? Where the injectors upgraded?
go for th 07 you can tell a diff in the power....as it is also a stroker motor....you cold put a nice cam in it and have a bad azz bike......verses 3gs to upgrade an 88 to a 95,well i have 5g's invested in mine..3000 just in parts...... to me the bike runs like it should now and i can pass anything even in 6th gear

Which bearings are you refering to? The fork thicker washer to fix a clunk sound or ?
Where or how do I check the build date and what date would be considered a 06 1/2 model?
