Too bad you dont live in or near Oregon, no sales tax. This last weekend I just purchased my first 96CI bike. 08 Street Bob Black Denimfor $13,985 (plus some for the added alarm) and they gave me $9200 for my 07 1200 XLC. They said they really wanted used bikes so it worked out great. They cant seem to keep enough Street Bob's in stock here anywhere. I must have been to 4 dealers and most of them only had one in stock. I think any reasonable private party deal you see for the next few years on usedHarley Bikes is going to be a good deal until they get their new bikeinventories back up to parr.

Yeah - Mom and Bro live in Or - Talent and Jackson / Medford area. He went looking at bikes for me. We talked about me getting a second residence there so I could buy any bike and bypass the Cal emmissions law bs and save on taxes..thanks for reminding me....
If I did live there I would consider these despite them not being Bob's:
Dayem! Only 1600 miles on an almost 3yo bike. Must've been ridden home from the dealer's and parked in the garage for decoration. I've put 25k miles on mine and didn't get to ride at all in the year '07.
The biggest differance I see between the 88 and the 96are the cam chain tensioners that fail early on some 88 motors. HD redesigned in 07. Do a search on cam tensionersif you need more info.

golden rule is get the best bike for your budget,, whatever you can stretch to. Both are awesome bikes but you would be better off with the 07 if you can stretch to it, otherwise the 06 is ace and will be the greatest thing youve ever owned[8D][8D] BUT i would definitely check it out with the dealer etc and ride it before you part with the corn...
No one usually uses NADA for bikes, instead they use KBB. I guess it all depends on what you find. I just saw an '07 go for $15K at my dealer. Blew my mind.
$10,900, in your market, sounds like a hell of a deal. Like I said earlier, you'll probably never notice the difference in the 2 motors.
Yeah - just to give you an idea of this market - a new 08 bob is $15,500 + taxes and dmv = almost $18,000. And of course, then add forward controls, stage 1, 2 up seat...
My buddy bought a low mileage 06 Bob for 11.7K off Ebay 1 year ago, it had lots of upgrades as well. The market? He lives in San Jose and the bike was in Carmel. I don't think 10,600 is a good deal. And if the new bob price you're quoting happens to be from San Jose Harley, do yourself a favor and drive to Santa Cruz (where I bought my 99 DWG) or Redwood City. SJ Harley has a markup on everything and they act like they're doing you a favor to even talk to you.
I likes my 06 Streetbob just fine. I'm sure you will too. Besides..it's the first year of production for them..and first year with the six speed. Sounds like the 88" would be plenty of power for you..It is for me and many others. With only 1600 miles that souinds like a deal ya might wanna lean towards. Plus the extras that are already on it. Anyways...only you can decide...Good luck.
You guys rock! I appreciate all the opinions and info. - very helpful. I made an offer yesterday of $10,100 cash. Waiting to here back. If he doesnt bite I have another choice waiting in the wings.
