As anyone with black ceramic coated pipes may know, this coatingis less than impervious to chips & othermarks & if it get's wet while hot, prone to cracking and flaking off (at least with Bassani's ceramic anyway)
I know I have read that most people have been touching them up or complete painting them once a year with HI TEMP paint, which is what I want to do. My question is what kind of prep work did you do to the pipes beforepainting them? Do I need to sand the ceramic coating to rough it up first or just paint right over it. Your help is appreciated.
The ceramic coating is very porus. I don't think you will have to do anything except paint'em. Let me say I have not painted mine at all but I have a couple of small smudges, plus something the dealer spilled on them when they dyno tunedthe bike. I couldn't prove they did it but it wasn't there when I took it in.
