My son rides with one on his new Wide Glide. \\; He adapted the touring lowers to it and it stopped all the wind buffeting. \\; He says it's like riding in the eye of the hurricane, no wind. \\; His wife loves it. \\; Good for long trips.
I have the touring shield. \\; As mentioned it's not the coolest looking shield. \\; But what I did was cut the lower parts that stick way down off. \\; Granted it does defeat the purpose slightly, but I relocated my turn sigs and that helped clear some room. \\; There is a guy on here who did that and also cut the top down some. \\; Looks real slick and he said it works great for him. \\; Maybe he'll post.
Does anyone have experience with a windvest windshield vs. the touring QD windshield?
I've ridden my buddies Road Glide, and he's got ALOT more protection than I get from my windvest... but my windvest is good protection. I'm just wondering if the touring QD windshield can get me an "air pocket" like the road glide fairing gives you.... or approaches that sensation. anybody with personal experience to compare the touring QD with a windvest or a Road Glide?
I have touring detachable windshield and \\; i love it, for long rides its a must have. Imho all windshields looks horrible in dynas but at least buy the one that protecs you more. It take 2 or 3 rides to find the correct fit, once you find it... no turbulences at all. I love it, you wont regret buying, I do some 200 miles trips and I dont get tired at all, no back pain, very confortable ride, easy to install, your arms and hand wont be tired... I bough the smoked one wich is almos clear and as I told you VERY VERY VERY happy with it!
Another thing about my \\;setup is that I can change the amount of wind I get from below by changing my foot postion and the position on my knees relative to the tank. When it's hot, I can put my feet out wider and get more air (and vice versa). Buffeting is not a problem.

I agree with Solitario that if you're gonna have a shield, might as well go ahead and get one that works like you want. I don't think they are exactly horrible, but they do take away from the lean and mean Dyna look. But I like the looks of 02Lowrider02's bike with the shield, bags, etc. \\;Sort of a \\;sleek highway missle or sporty bagger-lite.
