Default Touring windshield

Does anyone have any experience with Harley's quick-detach touring windshield?

I'm considering something to make the LONG rides more comfortable. Love my windvest, but 500 miles a day on tours has me considering a bigger shield.

any comments or suggestions?

I have the HD QD shield on my 2007 WG. I've had it on for about 1500+ miles and it fits the something is better than nothing catagory.I got it with the notion I'd take it off from time to time but just got use to riding with it and left it on. Not much buffetting up top, most of the air comes up from below the shield, also I'm not as tired from riding as I use to get from fighting ALL the wind. I'm going to Milwaukee in late August for the 105th HD celebration (800miles)and that shield wiil be leading the way.....

The touring windshield on my 2006 low rider helps keep the wind and rain off your hands. I like it. I used a tool bag in front for the buffeting.

I have the touring windshield- it's the old type QD that leaves studs on the tubes but I guess the shield itself is the same. Itain't that pretty, but it works like a charm on long stretches IMO. Here's a shot from a while back:

I have the QD touring windshield. I have mixed feelings about it. As mentioned it's very hard to find The Spot where the buffetting isn't bad. I imagine it's different for each rider because of height and helmet (if any) styling. It would be wise to mark the spot that works for you.

I love riding without the windshield even at high speed. But once in a while it is nice to be able to go down the highway without having to hang on so tight.

In the rain, it's just another layer of drops to deal with (along with visor and eyeglasses.)&nbsp\\;

I find that it makes the ventilation system of my helmet somewhat ineffective. On the other hand, it makes the visor on my helmet optional.

I've got the super sport QD. Like most everyone else, I cant live without it anymore.
But I've also got a cup holder, a cigarette lighter and an ash tray to keep me busy.
Thinkin maybe a TV and DVD player could be next.
