Default Progressive shocks

After waiting a month and two days I finally got my black 11" 412's from American Classic Motors yesterday.&nbsp\\; Opened the box, and this is what I found:

I know I should have sent it back, but I wasn't about to wait another month+ so I pushed the bolt through and rounded the hole back out with a hammer.

I was not very impressed with the 412's I put on my Sportster.
build quality, especialy the welds was lacking.
The ride was not all it was cracked up to be either compared to stock.

American Classic Motors has a bad reputation....

That problem was not AMC's, it was Progressives.&nbsp\\; No retailer opens the boxes that the product comes in and checks them.&nbsp\\; I have seen that before on other Progressive shocks.&nbsp\\; Hasn't happened to me yet and hopefully won't.

I did not say it was ACM's fault the shocks were defective.
But they do have a bad rep.
Do a search on any motorcycle forum about them and you will read many horror stories regarding their customer service.
arodgers did say it took over a month for them to ship.....

I don't base my opinions or purchases&nbsp\\;on what is said on forum threads.&nbsp\\; I've dealt with them and Eastern Performance for a few years without ever a problem.&nbsp\\; I've seen negative threads about both of them.&nbsp\\; You can't sell as much product as they do without some negatives occurring.&nbsp\\; Invariably, those who are not happy will say something.&nbsp\\; Those that are happy are the silent majority and will generally say nothing.

i had some deep gouges in the metal of my 412's from ACM that was just painted over by Progressive. not ACM's fault but they didn't reply to email or phone msg. fortunately i was able to turn it to the inside with the decals so you can't see it. i wouldn't have waited for another one anyway but it was still poor customer service.

If they buy seconds to sell at a low price it is their fault if they don't inform the buyers that they practice this. I also have heard horror stories about ACM from friends and forums, I have not bought from them and with all the negative comments made about them I will not risk it and&nbsp\\;buy from them, their prices are not&nbsp\\;any better than most other volume/ebay retailers.&nbsp\\;I have dealt with Eastern Performance and they had my parts to me in perfect condition every time on time, good prices and free shipping. My 2 cents

Did they fit on your bike?
Mine had the wrong springs(they were made for a Sporty) and bottomed out as soon as I put them on.
ACM will get nothing but bad press from me.........[:@]
