FXD Windshield Angle
Hi,I recently changed my speedo/handlebar setup to the Sporty Custom Riser/Lowrider Bars. When I put my QD windshield(touring)back on the angle looked wrong. With the speedo moved with the new riser, the screen looked to upright,so with the help of a couple of stiff rubber blocks &\\; wide tiewraps,I changed the screen to follow the angle/rake of the forks, looks much better imho. The big benefit is,much less buffeting, over 65mph,a real unexpected bonus.I'm now making a metal extender to make it permanent.

Hi,Havn't got any close ups that show the blocks well enough, but any firm rubber about 2" long by 1" sq.would do it.I just released the lower clamps, put the block between the fork &\\; the clamp, then tie wrapped all four clamps to the \\;fork tubes \\;with heavy duty tiewraps.I rode it like that for about 2Kmiles,no problems with slipping it was really solid.I don't think you could reposition the screen this much with the standard FXD speedo, but I didn't do it till I changed for the Sportster riser setup. The only tricky bit with the housing change was extending the wires, but theyr'e colour coded so it's pretty simple to solder them &\\; use heat shrink. If you decide to do the Riser,&\\; you but off Ebay make sure it's a complete riser with backplate &\\; idiot light housing, the Dyna light block dosen't fit,&\\; a new block is $54.Don't ask me how I know.I'll try to post a closer pic. of the screen.
