I just put a new tire on my 98 superglide. trying to adjust belt and the belt keeps riding off to the side of the \\;front sproket and hitting the inner primary. I checked the distance between the center of the axle to the hole on the swing arm and it is in the center. \\;Maybe i am off a little with the adjustment of the axle, i have to walk away from it for now. \\;help is needed i have a run tommorow. can the stealer mounted the bearings wrong when they put the new tire on? Help pleace
I have only one spacer on the left and the other side is the bracket for the caliper. The stealer put new races in and put the new tire on the rim. I just don't understand how the belt moves towards the inner primary when I go backwards but when I go foward the belt moves towards the middle and stays there. The bike runs smooth I had enough any suggestions
I just came back from the dealer and they said that is normal for the belt to "track" when you roll the bike backwards ,when you roll the bike foward the belt will be right where it should be. The bike rides good. I have only one spacer and 2 inner that are the same size. Only way to see this is to have the belt guard off. i was thinking is that maybe the stablizers are off a little and this has been like this for awhile and did not notice this. any sugg
According to my 97-98 service man. there should be a spacer on each side and also second one on the right (disc side), also a shim pack for setting the proper bearing end play. End play should be between 0.002 to 0.006. Check end play by putting a magnetic base dial indicator on the the brake disc with the dial's contact point on the end of the axle.

I don't know what to do. I hear different stuff about this. The dealer told me that the bearings were brand new,did not need to change them \\;and \\; he put new covers on the bearings and balanced the tire. The service guy said that \\;all belts track \\;so i don't know, I kept the upper belt cover off to see if the belt rubbs and the belt on the front pulley she is right in the middle when i go forward and stays right there. Now this is a 98 superglide. This could been like this for a long time and who checks this i happen to take the upper belt guard off to change the tire. Usually people take off the bolts off the bottom of theshock so the swing arm just dropps down and take the tire off. I think the motor is off of alighment in the frame i never adjusted the stablizer and the mounts on this bike and i have 35,000 miles on this.
