Default Solo seat advise

I am getting ready to purchase a solo seat for my 05 Super Glide. I've read alot of good stuff about all of them. I take long trips on the bike and will be taking a week long trip the fall. I would like to know if any of you have done the same and how you feel about your saddles for long hauls.
I like the look of the Corbin Hollywood and the Harley Brawlers. The Mustang and Harley Sundowners look good and more plush.

The Hollywood Solo is kind of skimpy for long trips, it's more of a bar hopper. The Classic Solo would be better suited, plus it'll accept a rider backrest (highly recommended). I've had a Classic Solo (with backrest) on my '03 wide glide since new. I wish it were a little wider, but it's pretty comfortable. The wide Mustang is definately more plush, but it sits you up higher as a result. I had one on a Sportster and it was very comfortable, I just didn't like sitting up so high.

Thanks murphdog. I've looked at alot of them and can analyze stuff to death, but I think the Classic solo is the one. Your info helps alot.

I can "second" the vote for the Corbin Classic Solo. Have it on my 05 WG, you don't even know you are sitting for long periods. Real leather, narrow at the tip so you can put your legs down at a stop, has a key lock to pop seat on & off. Plus, they will custom alter the seat when they make it.

For a longer than bar to bar trip, take a look at the Mustang Vintage solo. I put one on my bike last year and found it very comfortable on long trips of 200+ miles in all kinds of weather. It may not be as good looking as the Corbin, but from what I've learned, good looking doesn't always translate into comfortable. You could also give the folks at BAR Enterprises a call, check out their website at harleyseats.com for a look at their seats. I also have one of their solos, not bad for a day in the saddle.

I have an 04 Lowrider and rode the stock seat for about 1K miles and changed to the Mustang vintage solo (with conchos and buttons) I loved that seat but my wife picked out the 11" wide P-pad, 12" backrest and when I put her pad on it was almost as wide as mine. It just did not look right so I ordered the wide version of the same seat. After riding all three seats and doing a couple of 350mile plus rides in one day (on all three seats.) IMHO I think the regular solo was even more confortable then the wide one is. After getting broke in it seemed to mold to the bottom better. I will say this though both seats did set me up and forward about an inch. I still keep my stock seat and low sissy bar just for bar hopping and in town rides.

i have both the hollywood and the mustang (mustang is a touring) and that seat is the one you want for the long haul. Un less you have an *** like a cast iron skillet. but if you want your bike to look sweet at sun set or just parked somewhere than the hollwood is the way to go.
spend the extra money and get both!! that way you can be happy either way..

Let us know what you decide on and how you like it. I'm seriously contemplating the Corbin Classic Solo very soon.

I have a 05 FXDi too. I went with the Sundowner solo and love it...very comfy. It will sit you up higher though. You can also get the matching Sundowner passenger pillion to go with it for 2 up. HTH's!
