Don't the 06 &\\;\\\\\\; 07 bikes pads touch the rotor all the time ? That is where all the brake dust comes from. My brake rotors get hot just from riding with no use. First time I noticed it I was freaked, but have been told it is normal.
As I have said many times in many posts, no this (friction) is not normal. I have taken bikes with this problem and fixed it. Your bike was made to roll freely. My bike rolls freely. I have removed my rear belt and spun my rear wheel as well as the front w/duel disk (wheels). If there was a way of showing this by motion picture, I would for proof. Member Jay Risk is coming home soon and he will give a full report. If you have been following my posts on the Dyna section, you would know Jay sent me his front end w/wheel. His bike now runs without friction. It is a decision you must make to invest the time to fix your bike. You may go to my site for tools to help you. I personally can make any late model HD roll freely.
Anyone who says: "friction and hot (without using the brakes to stop) rotors are normal: is not correct. I state this from experience.
I just returned from a 1300 mile trip on my 06 Street Bob and Howard is absolutely right. \\; Wheels should spin free. \\; Mine do thanks to Howard. \\; He put together a conversion project to put dual front Brembo brakes on my bike and in the process fixed my forks so the wheel spins freely until the brakes are applied. Beautiful job. Bike stops so much better than before that I can't find the right words to describe. \\; Stops on a dime and gives you change is the closest I can come to it. \\; Jay
