ive got exactly the same issue on my 07 FLHT. The dealer pointed it out at the last oil change and said they would fix it for free. My concern is cracking the case and letting the local dealership do the work may lead to more leaks that what I have now. Its weird, not oily to the touch, never more than a dark spot where the three parts connect. Im tempted to just leave it alone and live with it. Anybody else have this problem?

Zar, this discussion continued here, first part of last month
Zar... the end result to my problem was to leave it, as it is no concern. As others suggested, I cleaned it up with a good degreaser and it appears to have went away on its own.
I gues it depends on how often you have to clean that up,or how much oil is coming from there,it may not be worth serviceing.Youre still under warranty DB.they will fix it,but that means tearing your engine off the bike, and that is what is happening to mine.I had a pinhole in the crankcase, they have received my new crank halfs and are waiting for me to bring it to them for an overnight and full day to tear it down and put back togehther.. O woe is me i don,t want that done to my '08
My 02 silver engine has had this "problem since after the first year of ownership. The trans case and engine case are dry, no oil in between the two. The split between the engine cases may be adding to this. My own thoughts on this is the aluminum cases minutely rubbing on each other (fretting) causing this discoloration. I haven't seen oily residue in 32k miles. Brake cleaner should clean it for you.
I've got this on my 2005 Super Glide Custom, with 5800 miles. I've cleaned it off twice now, waiting to see if it comes back. I freaked out when I first saw it, but after reading this I feel a bit better about it. I'll just keep an eye on it and see what happens.
I wonder if more bikes than just these Dynas have this issue, but it's just so much easier to see on the silver powdercoat?
Mine has done that for 82,000 miles and has never gotten worse, but of course that is just one bike and if your dealer will re-build the engine???----jack
