Has anyone heard of a throttle body adjustment on an EFI as part of a Dyno tuning procedure? \\;\\\\\\; The Dyno shop in town told me that they will tune a bike with a PCIII USB and also do a throttle body adjustment. \\;\\\\\\; He described it as a physical adjustment to allow you to go deeper into the throttle, separate from the rev limiter software adjustment. \\;\\\\\\; Anyone seen, heard, or done this?
Oh yeah, the shop charge for the Dyno tune is $250.00 and you get a copy of your custom map. Decent deal or no?
I waiting to get home to eyeball my bike.....
 \\;
The only way i could thing that it wasn't snake oil is if the butterfly doesn't open the whole way to 90 degrees on a stock T-Body at WOT, never looked!
 \\;
I Modify RX-7 T-bodys for better flow, smooth them out, widen the throats eliminate the flat edges that would cause turbulence and then polish 'em....but....the butterfly isnt effected.
As Buzzardbait guessed, they're just going to set it up so the butterfly is wide open at full throttle. Not magic, but a worthy thing to check and adjust if it's not right.
So if I pull the A/C and eyeball the butterfly when the throttle is at WO and it is 90degs, with the partIcan'trememberthenameof lightly touching the stop I have all one can get? \\; This is assuming that the cables are already adjusted correctly. \\; Is the amount of fuel delivered at WOT independent of the position of the butterfly?
Throttle position is one of the inputs to the fuel injection controller. \\;So it's fair to say the fuel delivered \\;when you're indicating WOT is independent of the real, physical position of the butterfly. \\;If your position sensor says it's wide open and it's not, the mixture will be wrong. Not blow-up-the-bike wrong, but wrong. You might not want to eyeball it as much as read the input to the ECM and when it says WOT, you adjust the butterfly to be WO. You might not have the equipment to read back that information which is why the tuner makes a note that he'll do that for you.
nope, of course there probally a physical adjustment, But in the pc 3 software you can set your end points, or should i say align your map.. "Snake Oil" another one of those overkill sell points , unessacary and you'll probally never even be able to tell the difference.
Thanks for the replies. \\; I am sticking with FuelMoto and the map they send me. \\; I will eyeball the butterfly and see how the bike pulls when I get the PCIII installed. \\; The Dyno shop here said they would sell the PCIII for 270, install it for 40 (including the majik throttle adjustment), and Dyno for 250. \\; I don't really want to drop $600 (cause you know there is some tax, shop fees, $5 zip ties in there too) on getting a PCIII on the bike if I can do it myself and learn a little in the process. \\; I gotta look at this software first and see how hard it is to tweak your own map and then make a decision on the dyno. \\; Truthfully, watching videos of the dyno process makes me cringe. \\; It looks like letting your drunk cousin ride your bike for a few minutes wide friggin open.
Jamman,
 \\; \\; Thanks, I will be in touch. \\; I think the thing will show up next Tues and I will install Wed. \\; Its hard to know what optimum is until you adjust just past that point then back it off. \\; Know what I mean? \\; I don't know what a tuned 96" stock Stage I has for potential. \\; I may be talking myself into a dyno, but I would like to wait until I go to a big bore kit in a year or two.
