After I've been riding at a constant throttle opening (no matter what speed) when I close the throttle the revs stay at about 2500-3000. If I turn the bike off and restart it idles normally.
I have changed the throttle cables recently and I think I may have done something wrong? apart from this the bike runs perfectly.
As I recall (don't have my manual here) there are two cable right? One actually opens the throttle and on closes it. Like a continuous loop.

I would check the cables at the carb. Open and close the throttle (bike off) and see what the heck is going on. Sounds like an issue with the closing cable.

Good luck.

My carb'd WG does the same thing after a long run. When it gets hot, it idles high. No idea what rpm's since I have no tach, but I've set the idle at 950-1000 with my maintenance tach and the hot idle seems to be quite a bit higher than that. 2500-3000 seems really high.
larazauk - is your bike injected? If so, guess in your case the computer controls the idle but I don't know much about FI. Nice pipes - crossbacks? Heard a sound clip of those and they sound great.

Cables seem to be doing what they're supposed to [&:] in the manual one is labelled as an 'idle cable' and wondering if I've adjusted it wrong but then it would be happening all the time?

Yep mines injected.
Really pleased with the pipes, great sound and seem to be good quality
is there anything left to roll back in throttle if not its not the cables Check throttle body and make sure there is noting there dirt etc other than that no clue. Mine will idle a little faster when i come down from speed but not 2,500-3,000 maybe 1100 and after a few seconds returns to normal
