went on an 800 km ride this weekend ,not sure what that is in mph but it was about 13 hours of riding.when i was allmost home i noticed some oil leaking out of the bolt that holds on my air filter.next day i stopped by the hd dealer and asked the service manager about it .he told me not to worry about it ,its a flaw and he has seen a lot of that.not sure if he is \\;\\\\\\;correct about that because the bolt is hollow \\;\\\\\\; for a reason.my question is \\;\\\\\\;does anyone \\;\\\\\\;know why this is.
The harley motor has breathers for the barrels. They vent into the air cleaner. Under hard use there will be a small amount of oil that will find its way to the air cleaner. If you have a little too much oil in the bike that will find its way to the air cleaner also. Keep the level at the proper fill mark. ALL harley motors will do this. There is nothing wrong with your bike. You can \\;quit worrying now.
I noticed that when I removed the cover from my a/c.I,m starting to beleive that it is normal! I have never overfilled the oil however I am known to gun the engine now a nd then!
 \\;It's not just oil u are seeing . \\; It's water MIXED w/ oil. \\; And its a good thing*. \\; As Crankcase pressure builds up, water vapor mixed with oil
 \\;is routed from the lower end through a filter/umbrella valve in the top end and then exits into your throttle body \\;via breather bolts then tubes. \\;
Speaking of which, \\;Where are your tubes? \\;
 \\;
*Its a good thing cause if it cant escape through the above mentiond way.
It will find another way out. Most likley through a seal in your crankcase.
