Slowly getting the information here which is good, but with all the brilliant deductions some are having with their responses, it's hard to contain my laughter. Smart A$$'s are fun to have around. In some instances, it's not worth asking questions around here for the brilliant minds are superior and want to belittle. It's cool, I'm pretty thick skinned! In some instances, it must be tough to know so much and misconstrue what someone asks. It's really no big deal as some make it to be, besides, for some it's fun to work in the dark and fumble around, but I don't want to spend that kind of time in 112 degree heat!!!!! I guess the hit and miss tool system must be the real way to go.

After 20 years of military tech manuals at&nbsp\\;work&nbsp\\;and Clymers, Haynes, Chiltons, Ford, and Helm manuals at home, I was wondering what manual have you used that told you the wrench size for each step because I haven't seen one?&nbsp\\;

&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;As an instructor we were taught to teach at an 8th grade level, and most manuals are close to the same level. I'm quite surprised a question about what size allen wrench to use on the bolt heads. Most stuff covered in the service manual is mechanical in nature and then there is an electrical manual. So what was your job on those carriers?

I think the manuals are great. It's equally as good as the GM manuals I have for my truck and my GTO. It is also as good as any John Deere tech manual I have read at work. I will give you this, if you aren't familiar with the way they are layed out and the way they send you to different sections for pertinant info on the job at hand it will drive you mad.

The SM is for performing maint on your bike, not customization.&nbsp\\; Once you venture into the customization world, you are at the mercy of the instructions that come with the part, or in many cases on your own.

Question asking is a little different than bashing on reliable useful information....

If a service manual does not teach you righty tighty or lefty loosey..and you are trying to loosen a bolt the wrong way..Is the service manual useless or is the reader not holding the prerequisite education to know how to use it?

I would think that H-D can take into account that the people who buy this manual know righty tighty, have some mechanical knowledge, and they can figure out how to grab the right sized wrench for the job...(special bolts and reverse threaded bolts are even explained when they come up).

Sorry I am just a "Dumbed Down American" that can think for himself and does not require instruction for every little thing that comes up...

Perhaps rephrasing the questions you ask will get a few less flaming responses....

And a better title for this thread may just be something along the lines of "turn signal relocation help"
instead of "lame a$$ service manual"
people create their own resistance!!!

I'm still having a good laugh at all the holier than thou answers. Some of the arrogance is amusing. Since when is the removal of turn signals a "customizing job"? Obviously some have head their head buried in manuals for some time, unless it was buried in&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;some other place. Bottom line is, as Ackman says, if not familiar with manuals, it can be a head scratcher.. Guess I expect to much and for some here, that holds very true.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
There's only been a couple "reliable" answers here! There has been no bashing on the "reliable useful" information. Why in the hell would I do that??? The bashing is coming from the bashers!!&nbsp\\;Re read the thread.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;Apparently the few that read the post&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;and responded, knew exactly what I meant! It's the ones, who, in their little minds who think they know it all and make the dumb *** comments, that I am amused with. It must be tough to be some of you.. To think you know so much and remark the way you do. It's cool, like I say, I'm pretty thick skinned. All it was, was a simple statement and question and turns into all this, just for little ole me!&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;I do appreciate the positive comments in response to my questions, after all, isn't this "supposed" to be a place to share information and experience??? I think for some, it's probably all about post count! Oh yeah, sorry I didn't name the thread or ask the question in a politically correct way! Glad to see you know how to make people welcome and want to get involved.
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
I've noticed you have to dig deep at times to find answers to your questions around here, but if it's at this kind of expense, maybe it's better not to ask to much.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;
Remember, it's all good! Thanks for the HD Forum education.
&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Now, for that manual that you can fix a web site with!!! Wait, one doesnt exist to fix this place, start grabbing and fumbling at tools for the fix.
