From the beginning... When i bought my SB, the suspension seemed too soft, so I went up 1 click on each side. It still seemed a little soft, and always felt kind of squirrely \\;and unstable on hard curves and twisties. I just figured it was the nature of the rubber mounted dynas, and never thought much of it. Put on 6341 miles like that.
Today, I decided to up the preload 1 more notch. I had this light bulb come on in my head, and looked up from the bottom of the shocks so I could see the ramps for the adjsutment. One was on the 2nd notch, and \\;the other was on the 3rd[:@]. Put them both on 3rd notch, and it's a whole new bike! \\;They had to be one off when i bought the bike, because I went up 1 click with both, and left it there. I wish I would have looked up my shock's skirt a little sooner! \\;
The stock shocks that come with the bike really aren't meant for carry two passengers. They make the bike handle funny when riding 2-up. I switched mine out for some Progressive 412's-Heavy Duty (meant for carry passengers weighing in access of 225 lbs.). The bike handles so much better on the twisties.
WHEN ADJUSTING THE SHOCKS DO YOU USE A HD TOOL TO DO IT OR ARE YOU USING SOME OTHER TOOL. \\; I HAVE NOT REALLY LOOKED TO SEE WHAT TYPE OF TOOL TO USE TO ADJUST THEM. \\; I HAVE SEEN THE HD TOOL SOMEWHERE BUT DIDNT KNOW IF THERE WAS ANY OTHER WAY!
you can adjust them with a bent screw driver or i have also used those grip straps... now i own a shock adj tool, but when i did not i woud say the grip stap deals worked the best and they where cheap!
